invitation to
spring concert on
Monday evening

The colibrí children’s choir will present its annual spring concert at the McAllen Creative Incubator at 7 pm, Monday, May 20, 2024. The concert is free and open to the public. We will be singing songs from the United States, Spain, Germany, and Japan. Accompanists will include John Hernández, piano; Ulysses De Leon, guitar; and Brooke Lyssy Cruz, ukulele. Please join us and invite friends and family! A small reception will follow.

For those with children interested in joining the choir, auditions will be held in September or, by appointment, in the summer. Please look through the children’s choir section of our website and contact us for more information or an appointment.

The colibrí children’s choir  is a community, auditioned treble choir for students in first through twelfth grade. Students are selected on the basis of their aural and vocal potential, their desire to sing, their ability to learn quickly and their willingness to work hard. Children from public, private, parochial, charter, and home schools meet Sunday afternoons in the Gallery of the McAllen Creative Incubator, 601 N. Main Street. The program is based on the philosophy developed by Zoltán Kodály. The choir performs at least two concerts each year at the McAllen Creative Incubator and has appeared at many local venues including the International Festival at St George Orthodox Church, the MLK Celebration at Cine El Rey, the South Texas Irish Festival, the opera Carmen at UTRGV, the Rio Grande Valley Ballet’s The Nutcracker, and the McAllen Wind Ensemble’s annual Christmas concert at the McAllen Performing Arts Center.
